A lake is an area filled with water, localized in a basin, that is surrounded by land, apart from any river or other outlet that serves to feed or drain the lake.

◇Lake - A large area of water surrounded by land is known as lake.

♤Glacier lake - A glacier is a lake with origin in a melted glacier.

•Lakes on arid regions - Arid and semi-arid lakes are key inland ecosystems, forming part of an important network of feeding and breeding habitats for
migratory and non-migratory waterbirds.

○ox-bow lakes - An oxbow is a crescent-shaped lake lying alongside a winding river.

●lagoon - A lagoon is a shallow body of water separated from a larger body of water by barrier islands or reefs.

☆saline lake - A salt lake or saline lake is a landlocked body of water that has a concentration of salts and other dissolved minerals significantly higher than most lakes.
