Here is your answer
_____________________

<> Leguminous plants are grown alternatively with the main crop so that the fertility of the soil is improved.

<> The roots of these plants are used to undergo nitrogen fixation.

# What is nitrogen fixation?

>> Nitrogen fixation is a part of the nitrogen cycle, where the atmospheric nitrogen is converted into ammonia and then into nitrogen.

<> Nitrogen fixation helps in plants to absorb nitrogen and undergo photosynthesis. Plants use nitrogen and is a macronutrient, thus nitrogen fixation plays an important role, which is done by leguminous plants.

These plants are specially abled to use atmospheric nitrogen. This happens only with the ‘symbiosis’ of such plants with bacterial members called nitrogen- fixing bacteria like Nostoc,Anabaena,Azotobacter,Azospirullum etc. These bacteria can fix the atmospheric nitrogen in a way that is easily available to such plants I.e; their symbionts.
