  • Heya mate!!!,                                                                                               Here is the answer for ur question.                                                                                                                                                                                The limitations of Rutherford's model of atom were:                         First limitation: Infinite orbits could be defined outside the nucleus, but if it were so,  then the electrons would follow a haphazard path.                                                                                                                                                                                                         Second limitation: His model couldn't explain the stability of the atom: According to classical mechanics, (which was 'only' known until then), any charged body accelerating loses energy continuosly, and would eventually fall into the nuclues,(which would take less than 0.8 seconds).                                                                                        But if that happened so, then nothing would exist.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            This limitation of Rutherford was overcome by Neils Bohr, who put forward his model of the atom with the help of quantum mechanics which is applicable for both macro and microscopic particles whereas Classical mechanics was applicable only for macroscopic particles.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          I guess that was a lil' lotta information. Well,,, hope that helped!!!
