The three main types of lipids are triacylglycerols (also called triglycerides), phospholipids, and sterols. Triacylglycerols (also known as triglycerides) make up more than 95 percent of lipids in the diet and are commonly found in fried foods, vegetable oil, butter, whole milk, cheese, cream cheese, and some meats

Answer:

Lipids are all made of carbon, hydrogen

and little oxygen and are water insoluble

but get dissolved in organic solvents like

ether, benzene, acetone etc. The lipids are

not polymers but they are assembled

from smaller molecules by dehydration.

Lipids could be simple fatty acids or

glycerol (which is trihydroxy propane).

Many lipids have both glycerol and fatty

acids. Some lipids have phosphorus and a

phosphorylated organic compound in

them. Some lipids have more complex

structures.
