lipids are hetrogenous group of compounds related to fatty acid.they include oils,waxes,fats,cholestrol e.t.c
they are hydrophobic compounds.and are the components of cellular membranes.they are also used to store energy,they provide insulation againt atmospheric heat and cold waxes are present in the exoskeleton of insects,and also provide additional protective layer on the cuticle of epidermis of some plant organs like leaves,fruits,seeds .
