The short structures that extend from the cell body are called dendrites. A single nerve cell has many dendrites. The main difference between axon and dendrite is that axon carries nerve impulses away from the cell body whereas dendrites carry nerve impulses from synapses to the cell body. Axon : Axon is a chain like structure then connects Cyton which is the cell body of neuron with muscle or any rest tissue.
Dendrites : Dendrites actually are futher division of Dendrons who are root like projections coming from Cyton or cell body.
Though Axon and dendrites are part of neuron only but they have different works.
Axon helps in connecting or attaching Cyton to tissue and to conduct nerve impulse from Cyton to tissue to which they are attached.
But Dendrites work as recievers or antenna in more precise way and then pass them to cell body.
