Manure is an organic matter composed of animal feces, wasted feed, etc. It is used as fertilizer to increase the fertility of soil. It is not the layer of soil. Manure is an excellent fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other nutrients. It also adds organic matter to the soil which may improve soil structure, aeration, soil moisture-holding capacity, and water infiltration.

Manures are classified as nature and organic manure.

Generally insect pests attack the plants in three ways: (1) They cut the root, stem and leaf, (2) they suck the cell sap from various parts of the plant and (3) they bore into stem and fruits. They thus affect the health of the crop and reduce yields.
