What are mechanical waves?
pranjalkbr:
A mechanical wave is a wave that is an oscillation of matter, and therefore transfers energy through a medium. While waves can move over long distances, the movement of the medium of transmission—the material—is limited. Therefore, the oscillating material does not move far from its initial equilibrium position.

The waves which require medium for their propagation are called mechanical waves or elastic waves.
☞Sound waves.
☞Waves in stretched string.
For the propagation of such a wave they use the property "inertia of mass" so that the transfer of enery or momentum takes place.

✔️A mechanical wave is a wave that is not capable of transmitting its energy through a vacuum.
✔️Mechanical waves require a medium in order to transport their energy from one location to another.
✔️A sound wave is an example of a mechanical wave.
✔️Sound waves are incapable of traveling through a vacuum.
