here is ur answer..
a nerve fiber encased in a sheath of myelin. myelinated nerve fiber. nerve fiber, nerve fibre - a threadlike extension of a nerve cell. medullary sheath, myelin sheath - a layer of myelin encasing (and insulating) the axons of medullated nerve fibers.
