Merits of roadways are:
1. Construction cost of roads is much lower than that of railway lines.
2. Roads can go through dissected and undulating land areas and through steep mountains.
3. Roads are economical as loading coasts are low and door-to-service cqn be availed of.

+ Low maintenance costs compared to other transport systems like railways and waterways.
+ Easier to construct and cheaper construction costs.
+ They can access even remote areas in hills and mountainous regions where railway tracks cannot be built.
Demerits of roadways--
+ They are more easily damaged or ruined by rains as they are not as strong or sturdy as railway tracks.
+ A common demerit which affects all if us mist if the time is traffics and accidents.
+ Can be used only for short distances. Cannot be used for very long distances.
