Answer:

Units are defined as those tools using which we can measure any physical quantities effectively. For example, if we want to measure length then that can be measured in meters, centimeters, feet etc, again if we have to measure mass then that can be measured in kilograms, grams etc. So from the above example we can say that there are many units which can be used to measure a particular quantity.Advantages of SI System of Units

It is a coherent system of units.

It is a rational system of units.

SI is a metric system.

We all know that units are made for measuring any physical quantities , these units helps us a lot in measuring the quantities in easy way and there have been different kinds of unit system made like M.K.S system , C.G.S system F.P.S system and the S.I system .

  • This S.I Unit system can be divided into three types -

Base units ,Derived units  and last one is supplementary units.

  • The supplementary units contain two units of purely geometrical quantities that are Radian and Steradian
  • The following are the merits of S.I unit of system:-
  1. Since SI unit system is the modernized and improved form of MKS system that's why it is understandable in most of the countries.
  2. It has seven base units , two supplementary units along with many derived units as well so it has a broader base.
  3. This SI system is coherent and rational also as it gives one unit for one physical quantity
