Answer :

Metals

  • A metal is a material (an element, compound, or alloy) that is typically hard, opaque, shiny, and has good electrical and thermal conductivity.
  • Examples :- Iron, copper, aluminium ,magnesium ,sodium, lead  etc.
  • Metals , in their pure state have a shinning surface  This property is called Metallic lusture .

Non metals

  • A non-metal is an element that when forming an ionic compound with a metal, accepts electrons to attain a full outermost shell. This is because it is easier for a nonmetal to reach noble gas electronic configuration than a metal.
  • Examples :-  Carbon , Sulphur , Iodine , Oxygen , Hydrogen etc.
  • The non metals are either solids or gases except bromine which is a liquid
