Metallic oxides are the oxides formed by metals when they are burnt in air or when they react with oxygen of the air. For eg:Magnesium oxide. Non-metallic oxides are formed when non-metals react with oxygen of the air. For eg: Carbon dioxide. Metallic oxides react with acids and bases but non-metallic oxides do not react with acids. Metallic oxides are basic in nature but non-metallic oxides can be acidic or neutral.
