The elements whose one readily loses electrons to form a positive ion are called metals. For example -: Sodium,etc.

The elements whose one atom readily gains electrons to form a negative ion are called non metals. For example -: Chlorine,etc.

Metals Metals are those substances which have tendency to loose electrons and forms positive ions are called metals

Ex. Sodium, iron, potassium etc.

Non-Metals

Non metal are those which lack all metallic good insulator of heat and have tendency to gain electrons are called Non-Metals
