any atom that gains electron is considered metal and any atom that loses electron is considered non metal.

metal eg. lithium, beryllium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, Strontium.

Answer:

Metals- metals are electro positive in nature. They posses the characteristic of malleability, sonority, ductility, good conductor of heat and electricity and hard.

example- Iron, silver

Non metal- they are electronegative in nature.

They are mainly soft, non malleable, non ductile, non sonorous, and bad conductor of heat and electricity.

example- oxygen, Fluorine
