what are micelles? why does it form when soap is added to water?will a micelle be other solvents such as ethanol also?state briefly how the formation of micelle help to clean the clothes havin oily spots.

MICELLES : when molecular ions in soaps and detergents aggregate, they form micelles.
soap molecules have two ends, hydrocarbons ends, water repellent where as ionic part which is water loving.
when soap is added to water, the hydrophobic 'tail' of soap will lot dissolve in water and soap will align along the surface of water with ionic ends in water and hydrocarbons 'tail' out of water by forming cluster of molecules called micelle.
No, micelle will it found in ethanol, as soap will dissolve in ethanol.
micelles trap dirt, grease, oily spots, etc. which is washed away by water or the oily dirt is collected at the centre I'd miclles which forms as emulsion in water and in rinsing the water washes away dirt attached to them..
