Microbial restrictors:

The chemical substance which has the ability to restrict the growth of microorganism is called as Microbial restrictors. They inhibit the microbial growth or activity by causing harm to metabolic process occurring in the microorganisms thus by killing it.

Nycin is one such microbial restrictor which is composed of nicotinic acid which is used to restrict growth of microorganism which causes intestinal damages. It restrict the metabolic activity and in turn either kills the organism or keeps it in inactive state.
