After the death of the albatross, the ancient sailor had to face the criticism of his fellow sailors. They believed the death of the auspicious bird would bring them ill-luck. However, they changed their views when the ship entered a wholesome climatic zone. The fickle-minded sailors praised him for killing the albatross as they suspected it was on account of it they had faced difficulties at the South Pole. The sailor was again in trouble when the ship got stuck in the silent sea near equator. The intense heat was unbearable. Soon the provisions ran out. Their survival was at stake. Each crew member held the sailor responsible for their troubles. They punished him by hanging the dead albatross round his neck.
