Answer:

In chemistry, a mixture is a material made up of two or more different substances which are physically combined. A mixture is the physical combination of two or more substances in which the identities are retained and are mixed in the form of solutions, suspensions and colloids

A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture of two or more chemical substances (elements or compounds). Examples are: mixtures of sand and water or sand and iron filings, a conglomerate rock, water and oil, a portion salad, trail mix, and concrete (not cement).

Soil is composed of small pieces of a variety of materials, so it is a heterogeneous mixture. Water is a substance; more specifically, because water is composed of hydrogen and oxygen, it is a compound

Mixtures are formed by combining various substances, which may be in the form of a solution, colloid or suspension.

The type of mixture formed on mixing the given substances are:

1.  Salt+water- Homogenous

2. Soil+water- Heterogenous

3. Milk+water- Homogenous

  • Mixtures can be classified into: homogenous and heterogeneous.

1. Homogenous- A combination of two or more substances such that they dissolve completely or blend well having the same proportions throughout.

Example: Salt and water combine to form a clear solution as salt is soluble in water.

2. Heterogenous- A combination of substances such that they do not blend well and the proportions vary throughout.

Example: Soil and water as soil has various components such that some dissolve in water whereas some do not and thereby proportions vary.
