The number occurring the most number of times in a data is mode and median refers to the mid-value of the data.

Empirical formula -
Mode = 3Median - 2Mean

mode : the number or digit which is occurring many times in the given data is know as mode.
example -
given data : X, Y, P, O, X,Q, X, Z, X
the mode of the data = X

median : the middle most value of the given data when arranged in the descending or ascending order.
example - 
given data : 1, 5, 3, 8, 2
⇒the median = 1, 2, 3, 5, 8
∴ 3 is the median

THE FORMULA OF THEM :
Mode = 3 median - 2 mean
