The modern methods of farming are capital intensive which make it difficult for the poor farmers to gather credit to buy those equipment. modern seeds need more irrigation,chemical fertilizers.
Their drawbacks are :-
1) It uses the natural resource base extensively.
2) It decreases soil fertility by usage of chemical and doesnt permit growth of microorganisms
3) It reduces the water table level by pumping out more and more groundwater for irrigation.
4) It pollutes rivers during run offs.
5) It changes the soil chemistry of the soil by making it acidic or increasing salinity .
