  • Identical antibodies produced by single unique parent B-cell are called as monoclonal antibodies.
  • They bind to specific antigens present on cell surface of diseased cells.
  • Monoclonal antibodies are useful in immunotherapy of various cancers.
  • For example, omalizumab (anti-IgE antibody used in treatment of branchial asthma), rituximab (anti-CD20 antibody used in treatment of non-hodhkins lymphoma.
