Both Myopia (short-sightedness) and Hypermetropia (long-sightedness) are common eye conditions that are occur when light does not focus on the retina of the eye. Both conditions are easily corrected using prescription glasses or contact lenses or in mild cases by laser eye surgery.

myopia is when the light reaches further from the rectina in the eyelids the people who are myopic will not be able to see things which are far from them as the light travels further than touching the retina.
hypermetropia is when we cannot see objects close to us as the light doesn't not reach the rectina in our eyelids and people suffering from these are advised to wear prescribed glasses.
well but myopia can be treated through surgeries like laser treatment etc. hope it helps you...
