A nerve is a collection of many nerve fibres enclosed in a connective tissue sheath.

Types of nerves:-

There are three types of nerves.

  1. Sensory nerves: These nerves are made up of sensory neurones. They carry stimulus to the brain and spinal cord.
  2. Motor nerves: These nerves are made up of motor neurons. They carry messages from the brain and spinal cord to all the muscles and body organs.
  3. Mixed nerves: These nerves contain both sensory and motor nerves. Through sensory nerves, they carry stimulus to brain and spinal cord and through motor nerves, they carry messages from brain and spinal cord to body organs.
