Question:- What is Noun ?

Answer:- A noun is the name of a person, place, thing , quality , condition and action.

There are 2 different types of noun:-

1. Countable noun

2. Uncountable noun

1. Countable Noun:- The noun which can be counted 

Example:- Veena, girl , class etc.

(a) Proper noun:- The noun which denotes a proper person, place or thing.

Example:-

Proper person   ----------------->     Rahul , Adi , Sid

Proper place     -------------------->   Haridwar , Mumbai , Delhi

Proper thing      --------------------->  Gita , Bible

(b) Common noun :- The Noun which denotes common person, places or things.

Example:-

Common person      ----------------->    Man , women

Common place   ------------------>       School , Town

Common things   ----------------->        Book , Table

(c) Collective Noun:- The Noun which denotes a group of persons or other creatures and collections of things.

         Group of Persons   ---------------->  A crew of sailors 

                       ------------------------>    A team of Players

         ---------------------->     A class of students

          Collection of things    ---------------------->  A fleet of ships

                                -------------------->    A bunch of flowers

2. Uncountable Noun:- The Noun which cannot be counted. 

Example:- Gold , water , oil etc.

(a) Material noun:- The Noun which denotes materials.

Example:- Copper , Ghee , Tea  etc.

(b) Abstract Noun:- The Noun which denotes quality, condition or action.

Example:- Wisdom , Pride , Childhood etc.
