✯Nuclear forces are the strongest forces in nature which are generally attractive and hold all the nucleons together in the tiny nucleous of atom inspite of electrostatic repulsive forces between protons.

♦ some of the properties of these forces are as follows :--

❶ These are strongest forces known so far.

❷ these forces are independent of charge.

❸ these forces are short range forces and are operative only within the nucleus.

❹ these forces are saturated forces i.e nucleon interacts only with its immediate neighbours only.

❺ these forces are non- central forces.

❻ these forces are spin dependent.

Nuclear forces are known as nuclear interactions or strong forces. They are the forces that act between two or more nucleons. They bind protons and neutrons into atomic nuclei. The nuclear force is about 10 millions times stronger than the chemical binding that holds atoms together in molecules.

Properties:

1)It is attractive in nature but with a repulsive core. That is the reason that the nucleus is held together without collapsing in itself.

2)The range of nuclear force is very short.

3)Nuclear force is identical for all nucleons.

4)At a distance less than 0.7 Fermi, this force becomes repulsive.
