Nucleons is the collective name given to the sum of protons and neutrons.

If, there are 6 protons and 3 neutrons, then there are 9 nucleons (6+3).

Any atom which consists of proton and neutron is a nucleon. (except Hydrogen as it has only protons) Like, Sodium or Helium.

Protons and neutrons in the nucleus are collectively known as nucleons.

For example in phosphorus atom protons are 15 and neutrons are 16 hence the no. of nucleons is 31
