The nucleosome is the fundamental sub unit of chromatin.


Each nucleosome is made out of somewhat less than two turns of DNA wrapped around an arrangement of eight proteins called histones, which are known as a histone octamer.


Every histone octamer is made out of two duplicates every one of the histone proteins H2A, H2B, H3, and H4.
