The special reference of EVS that draws upon insights from Sciences, Social Sciences and Environmental Education. The National curriculum framework 2005 indicates some of the objectives of teaching Science and Social Science at the Primary stage as:

1. to train children, relationships between National, Social and Cultural environment 2. experiences of physical,biological, social and cultural aspects of life 3. awareness about environmental issues 4. acquire basic cognitive and psychomotor skills through observation, classification and inference etc.
