Ocean water moves in two directions: horizontally and vertically. Horizontal movements are referred to as currents, while vertical changes are called upwellings or downwellings.

Benefits of ocean currents -Tidal energy is an alternative energy source that has not reached its full potential yet. It is a green alternative that does not produce any direct pollutants or greenhouse gases into the environment unlike fossil fuels.
