Ordinances are laws that are promulgated by the President of India on the recommendation of the Union Cabinet. They can only be issued when Parliament is not in session. They enable the Indian government to take immediate legislative action.

an ordinance is a command of an authoritative nature which has same force and effect as an act of parliament, it can be issued only when both the houses of parliament are not in session or the circumstances demands for immediate action, every ordinances need to be approved by Parliament within 6 weeks of the resemblance.
