Organisms who are unicellular are also called prokaryotic as the word itself suggests, pro means old, poor and karyotic means cell which means prokaryotic organisms have poorly developed nuclear membrane and nucleus itself hence unicellular organisms have only single cell which performs all it's functions and their nuclear region is poorly developed so organisms who are unicellular are also called prokaryotic.
