Land is used by man to build structures for his own shelter, as well as to set up structures which are useful for his survival and sustenance. He uses land for agriculture – growing of crops, which are used as food. Animals are reared on land which gives him meat, milk and eggs. Wells are dug up on land, which provides him water for drinking and agriculture.

Land is a limited commodity while human population grows at an alarming pace. Hence diligent use of land resources has assumed significance in recent decades.
