There are two types of sources of Mauryan History. One is Literary and the other is Archaeological. The literary sources include Kautilya’s Arthasastra, Visakha Datta’s Mudra Rakshasa , Megasthenese’s Indica, Buddhist literature and Puranas. The archaeological sources include Ashokan Edicts and inscriptions and material remains such as silver and copper punch-marked coins.

The main information about the maurayan rule are that it was first established by Chandra Gupta Maurya which was later on succeeded by his son Binduara.Ashok was the last ruler of this Empire which shows us many great evidence about their Emits suchas great iron pillar,Buddha pilgrimage,Hospitals for poor people etc.During his region he led to spread the Buddha religion by his son and daughter.
