An oxides is a chemical compound that consist one or more oxygen(O2) atom and one another element in its chemical formula.

oxides actually denotes oxygen atom .
oxygen => O2^-

An examples is MgO magnesium oxide .
in MgO we have magnesium in oxide form..

Oxides - O2- ..

e.g. - CO2, SO2, CaO, CO, ZnO, BaO2, H2O, etc..
