Answer:

The periplasm is a concentrated gel-like matrix in the space between the inner cytoplasmic membrane and the bacterial outer membrane called the periplasmic space in gram-negative bacteria. Using cryo-electron microscopy it has been found that a much smaller periplasmic space is also present in gram-positive

In order to understand periplasmic speed we have to understand the nucellus first.

So let's learn about nucellus.

Nucellus is a nutritive tissue that is present around the embryo sac.

(For reference embryo sac is present inside the ovule.)

• In most of the cases nucellus get consumed by the embryo sac in development.

• But in rare cases (as in black pepper and beet), nucellus remains in the seed (as ovule convert into seed).

And these type of seeds are called periplasmic seeds.

Wish you got it.
