a magnet that retains its magnetic properties in the absence of an inducing field or current.
ex:A "horseshoe magnet" made of alnico, an iron alloy.

Hey !!

Substances, which at room temperature, retain their ferromagnetic property for a long period of time are called permanent magnets.

Example :- Cobalt , Steel and Nickel.
