Plant hormones are signal molecules produced within plants, that occur in extremely low concentrations. They exert strong control over plant development and can either act locally or in more distant part of the plant.

Phytohormones are generally synthesized in one part of the plant and then transported and utilized in another part of the plant, acting as a chemical messenger between tissues and organs.

Plant hormones are called as photohormones. These are the organic substances which are produced in the plants .They bring about total control over growth and other physiological functions in the organism.

Auxins, Gibberillins, Cytokinins, Ethylene and Abscisic acid are different types of photohormones.

Phytohormones are synthesized in minute quantities in one part of plant body and simply diffuse to other parts of plants.
