Plastics are exclusively present in plant cells in large numbers and are absent in animal cells. They are a pigment containing cell organelles. They are of three types:
Chloroplasts: These are plastids containine the green pigment chlorophyll. They are present in the leaves and stems of most of the plants. They are regarded as the kitchen of the plant cell because they help in synthesis of food for photosynthesis.
Leucoplasts: They are colourless plastids. They are mostly present in the roots and underground modified seems to store food.
Chromoplasts: They are coloured plastids (red, yellow). These are present in abundance mainly in flowers and fruits (tomato, carrot).
