In the field of geology a pluton is a body of intrusive igneous rock which is also known as plutonic rock which is crystallized from magma which is slowly cooled below the surface of earth. Pluton includes stocks, dikes, sills and other ingenious bodies. Pluton refers to as  a  mass of igneous rock typically several kilometers of dimensions. Generally light colored coarse grained plutons of these compositions are reffered to as a granitoids.
