What are pneumatophores where are they found and what is their function?

Pneumatophores=> they are modified roots meant for gaseous exchange.
they are found in plants(halophytes) found in marshy and saline soil.
they are found on ground means they comes as outgrowths of roots over ground.

For example i will show how they are present.
In this below diagram long is tree and down there are some projection from ground they are known as pneumatophores.
