What are poetic devices and please tell me types of poetic devices but definations please explain

A poetic device is a language feature such as a simile, metaphor, pun etc. poetic devices or often called poetic methods can be a number of things used in a poem.

Alliteration - The repetition of initial consonant sounds.

Assonance - The repetition of vowel sounds.

Imagery - Words or phrases that appeal to any sense or anycombination of senses.

Metaphor - A comparison between two objects with the intentof giving clearer meaning to one of them. Often forms of the "tobe" verb are used, such as "is" or "was", to make the comparison.

Meter - The recurrence of a pattern of stressed andunstressed syllables.

Onomatopoeia - The use of words which imitate sound.

Personification - A figure of speech which endows animals,ideas, or inanimate objects with human traits or abilities. There are many more, but those are just a few basics.
