⇝ Polynomials :-

Polynomials are said to be a particular type of algebraic expressions which comprises of basically exponents which are added, subtracted or multiplied. 

⇝ Types of Polynomials :-

The polynomial are classified on the basis of two types :

• On the Basis of Terms
• On the Basis of Degrees

⇝ On the Basis of Terms :-

There are namely four types of polynomial on the basis of number of terms :

• Monomial - A polynomial containing one term is called a monomial. Here, 'Mono' means 'one'.

• Binomial - A polynomial containing two terms is called a binomial. Here, 'Bi' means 'two'.

• Trinomial - A polynomial containing three terms is called a trinomial. Here, 'Tri' means 'three'.

• Multinomial - A polynomial containing more than three terms is called as multinomial. Here, 'Multi' means 'many'.

⇝ On the Basis of Degree :-

On the basis of Degree, polynomials are divided into four types :

• Linear Polynomial : A polynomial of degree 1 is called a linear polynomial . General form - ax + b

• Quadratic Polynomial : A polynomial of degree 2 is called a quadratic polynomial . General form - ax² + bx + c

• Cubic Polynomial : A polynomial of degree 3 is called a cubic polynomial . General form - ax³ + bx² + cx + d.

• Biquadratic Polynomial : A polynomial of degree 4 is called a biquadratic or quartic polynomial . General form - ax⁴ + bx³ + cx² + dx + e.
