Port Cities:-

The most important centres of British trading activities were known as port cities. Calcutta, Bombay and Madras were use to sent raw material to Britain. Similarly all the finished goods entered India through these ports.

Non-Coastal Cities:-

Newly emerged cities were deliberately located.

Many cities rose to prominence, like Delhi it was centre of administration and Mughalsarai as an important railway junction too.

Cantonments:-

Cantonments were basically developed by European plans. They were having huge and broad roads, huge open spaces and also separate offices. Lansdowne in Uttrakhand and Danapur in Patna are some of the cantonments during British era.
