Rocks which are formed by solidification of magma are known as primary rocks. Igneous rocks are considered as the primary rocks as these are the rocks which form from the material that comes from below the earth. Igneous rocks are one of the three basic rock types. Other two are sedimentary and metamorphic .

The rocks which are formed when molten magma cools and solidifies are called primary rocks. They are also known as Igneous rocks. They are called so because they were the first type of rock to be formed and they also provide materials for the formation of other rocks. The two types of Primary rocks are 1.) Intrusive Igneous rocks 2.) Extrusive Igneous rocks.
