A whole number which is greater than 1 and whose common factor is 1 and the number itself only is termed as prime number
It cannot be formed by multiplying two smaller natural numbers
Example - 3 , 7 , 11 and so on.

Prime Numbers are those numbers which can be divided by 1 and itself i.e, whose common factor is 1 and itself.
Eg : 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 etc
