Tiger reserves are governed by the Project Tiger (1973). It is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Ministry of Environment and Forests. It is administered by the National Tiger Conservation Authority. Aim: Protect tigers from extinction by ensuring a viable population in their natural habitats

TIGER PROJECT:- As per estimation there were more than 40,000 tigers in India in the beginning of 20th century .
due to unrestricted illegal hunting there was a big danger for existence of tigers.
so the government started the project to
save tiger was started in the year 1971.
Till now the tiger project was implemented in about 44 regions.
RHINO PROJECT :- This project was started for the protection of one horned
Rhinos of India. In India the rhinos are found only in Assam in kaziranga national park. According to the strategy of Rhino vision
2020 there is an increase in no of rhino is targeted as 3000.
