the word protein comes from the greek word PROTEIOSmeans first or foremost. the term protein was coined by BERZELIUS and MULDER.proteins are involved in structural support ,storage, transport, signalling, movement etc... in living organisms . these are linear unbranched polymers of amino acids .amino acids are connected to each other via peptine bond .
PROTEINS ON THE BASIS OF STRUCTURE
1.Simple proteins
● albumins
● globulins
● glutelins
● prilamins
● albuminoids
2.Conjugated proteins
● nucleoproteins
● glycoproteins
● phosphoproteins
● lipoproteins
● metallo proteins
3.Deived proteins.
proteins have four structures
1.primary structure
2.secondary structure
● alpha helix
● beta pleated sheets
● collagen or tropocollagen helix
3.Tertiary structure
4.Quaternary structure.
