Question: What is the role of public facilities in the development of India?

Answer: We can say that Modern India grew along with the public facilities or public service provided by the Government of India. The quality of public facilities improved in the recent decades after India’s economic liberalization and a growing economy.

In India, the education, electricity, Law enforcement, courts, Postal service, Military, transportation etc are provided by the government. There are also private players in some of these services, such as education, electricity, transportation etc., but essential services such as the Police, military, courts etc., are still solely with the Government of India.

The quality of public service was not great at the time of independence, but it gradually improved. Still it is more advanced in Indian cities as compared to Rural India. Also, some states have better public service and a few other states have poor quality of public service. The public service in India is run by the Executive branch of the Indian government. The policies of the Executive is determined by the elected government and the functioning of the executive branch is run by the Administrative arm of the government.

India is a developing nation and most are dependent on the essential public service and facilities of India. In the recent decades the private service is better used, wherever available by a good number of Indians.
