Citizens have the right to approach the courts to seek remedy in case of any violation of their rights. In recent years the courts have given several judgements and directives to protect public interest and human rights. Anyone can approach the court if public interest is hurt by the actions of the government. This is called public interest litigation. The courts intervene to prevent the misuse of government's power to make decisions.

Answer:

public interest group is a group that promotes the interests of the people of the society. There interests can be of a particular section of the society or of the entire society in general. Their activities benefit the entire society and not just a particular section of the society.
